The Parish Council is pleased to announce that a new community public access defibrillator (CPAD) has been installed at the Reading Room, Whittlebury. In the unfortunate circumstance of someone collapsing in the village, the 999 call to the ambulance service will flag up information about the CPAD in the ambulance control room and the caller will be given the access code to the defibrillator cabinet.

It is hoped that while the CPAD is being collected, another bystander can administer basic life support (BLS) to the casualty prior to the arrival of the paramedics which could take up to 10 minutes. Once deployed, the fully automated defibrillator will inform those assisting if a shock is going to be administered to the casualty.

There will be a training session on BLS and use of the defibrillator in the near future for any interested villagers - details available shortly.
