CYCLING EVENT IN WHITTLEBURY 27TH OCTOBER

A non-competitive cycling event will pass through Whittlebury on Saturday 27th October 2018. The Wiggle Hawker Hurricane Sportive organised by UK Cycling Events is an event for amateur cyclists and will start from Turweston Aerodrome near Westbury, Bucks.

ATTENTION ALL WALKERS IN WHITTLEBURY

Villagers who regularly walk past the campsite towards Silverstone will know that a fence has been erected in the sheep field next to the circuit preventing walkers taking the short cut alongside the wood between the two gates - this is because this short cut is not a public right of way.

PLANNED CLOSURE OF A5 TOWCESTER HIGH STREET JULY-NOVEMBER 2018

Highways England (HE) reports that there will be phased closures of the A5 in Towcester for "essential maintenance" starting on Monday July 23rd 2018 and lasting nearly 18 weeks until the end of November with two stand down periods, on 28th July for a concert at the Racecourse and from 24th-26th August for the MotoGP at Silverstone.

WHITTLEBURY VILLAGER OF THE YEAR

The Whittlebury Speed Watch team co-ordinated by Brian Barton won the coveted "Villager of the Year" award at the Annual Village Meeting on Thursday May 3rd 2018. Congratulations to all those involved who, with their regular appearances on the kerbside in the village with their speed detection device, attempt to increase the awareness of errant drivers of the dangers posed by speeding.

NEW DEFIBRILLATOR FOR THE VILLAGE

The Parish Council is pleased to announce that a new community public access defibrillator (CPAD) has been installed at the Reading Room, Whittlebury. In the unfortunate circumstance of someone collapsing in the village, the 999 call to the ambulance service will flag up information about the CPAD in the ambulance control room and the caller will be given the access code to the defibrillator cabinet....
